About us

Located along the historic Freedom Trail, at the heart of Boston's downtown, is Scholars American Bistro and Cocktail Lounge boasting a stylish and vibrant interior. With spacious lounges set up as semi-private spaces, Scholars has established itself as the favored venue for social and networking events, alumni receptions or after-work gatherings. Patrons can savor new twists on regionally inspired classics, complimented by our own Executive Chef Al Soto's, approach.

Delicious plates, along with a selection of tasty cocktails, refreshing beers and house wines, are sure to satisfy all palates and a “cheers” will render from any crowd. The lounges all boast an assortment of posh chairs, sofas and martini tables. The First Floor lounges and dining spaces inspire comfort and conversation in a chic airy environment looking out onto School Street. In addition to our All Day menu Lunch & Dinner, Brunch is now served on Saturday and Sundays from 11am to 3pm.

Great place to shoot pool.
Unbeknownst to most, Scholars has food, and it's very good!
The crowd tends to be younger (college-aged) on weekend nights (Th-Fri).

One of my favorite downtown bars. I like that this bar has two levels with different atmospheres. The upstairs has a small bar and pool tables you can rent by the hour, if you just want to hang out. On the other hand, the main floor is a little more lively and has a decent dance floor with good music.
