Every contractor eventually hits the point where the notebook, the text threads and the spreadsheet stop working. That’s when the big three come up: Jobber, Housecall Pro and ServiceTitan. All three schedule jobs, send quotes and invoices, and take payments. The difference is who they’re built for.

The short version

  • Jobber — the easiest start for owner-operators and small, growing crews. Quotes, scheduling, invoicing and a client portal without a lot of setup.
  • Housecall Pro — a close competitor aimed at home-service pros who also want built-in marketing extras like online booking and review requests.
  • ServiceTitan — built for larger shops with several crews, a dispatcher and a sales team. Powerful, but it’s a bigger commitment to set up and run.

Questions to ask before you pick

1. How many people will use it every day?

If it’s you and a helper or two, the simplest tool you’ll actually open wins. If you have an office manager dispatching several trucks, you need stronger scheduling, permissions and reporting.

2. Does it connect to what you already use?

Most contractors already have QuickBooks for the books and a Google Business Profile for leads. Check that the app syncs cleanly with your accounting and that new leads from your website and Google land in it automatically — otherwise you’ll be copying and pasting forever.

3. Who’s going to set it up?

This is the question nobody asks. All three tools are only as good as their setup: your price book, your quote templates, your follow-up texts, your service areas. A half-set-up app is just another login.

4. What does it really cost?

Pricing changes often and usually depends on how many users you have and which features you turn on. Get a current quote for your team size, and ask what’s included versus sold as an add-on.

Our take

For most small crews we work with, a simpler tool that’s fully set up beats a powerful one that’s half set up. If you’re already on one of these, don’t switch just because someone told you to — the fix is usually in the setup, not the software.

That’s the whole idea behind Fillay: bring your own tools, or use ours. We work inside whichever app you have and connect it to your website, phone, Google profile and ads so every lead lands in one place and gets a fast reply.

How we make money: you pay Fillay for our service. Some links on this page may be referral links, which means the software company may pay us if you sign up. It never changes our recommendation, and we’re happy to run whatever tools you already use.
